PMech Delivers Multidisciplinary Engineering for Offshore Modules on FPSO

PMech is proud to have delivered multidisciplinary engineering for some of the heaviest single-lift offshore compressor modules — including 1200 MT and 900 MT units — for a U.S.-based client.

These offshore modules were installed on an FPSO, and the project involved three such large compressor modules, each engineered with a high degree of integration across process, piping, structural, electrical, instrumentation and automation disciplines. The detailed engineering phase extended over nearly one year, requiring close coordination across multiple vendors, disciplines, and interfaces.

These complex turbo-compressor packages integrate:

Gas Turbine Driven LP & HP Compressors
Knock-Out Drums, Gas & Lube Oil Coolers
Process & Utility Systems
Firefighting, Control & Safety Systems

PMech’s detailed engineering scope included:

Process Simulation, PFDs, P&IDs, Line & Equipment Lists
Thermal Design using Aspen EDR and Vendor Integration
Full 3D Modelling in E3D, Plot Plans, Piping GADs, Isometrics & detailing
Piping Stress Analysis & Support Design
STAAD-based Module Structural Design considering Sea Transportation & Lifting
Transportation and Lifting Analysis for Single-Lift Installation
Electrical & Instrumentation Detailed Engineering including Load Lists, SLDs, C&E, F&G systems, Alarm & Shutdown Logic
Bid Evaluation and Vendor Document Review across multiple engineering disciplines

A proud milestone for our team is that all modules have now been successfully installed at site.

The precision, pace, and engineering depth demonstrated by us during this project also led to other module suppliers on the same FPSO reaching out to PMech for engineering support, where our team assisted them in completing their detailed engineering deliverables as well.

Projects like these reflect the strength of a truly multidisciplinary engineering team working with discipline, coordination, and intent.
